Arabat Split

The Arabat Spit (Arabatskaya strelka) is a spit (narrow strip of land) in the Azov Sea, which separates a large, shallow and very salty system of gulfs named Syvash. The spit is located between the town of Henichesk and the north-eastern shores of Crimea. It is 110 km long, and 270 m to 8 km wide and is considered to be one of the longest spits on the planet.

Arabatskaya strelka is the longest split in Europe. As the matter of fact, it is 110km-long sand beach. Ever seen that?

The split is inhabited, recreational tourism is rapidly developing there - but still, the biggest part of it is still unexplored.

What will you find there:

  • wild nature
  • clean (and warm in the summer) sea
  • springs with hot mineral water
  • curative muds of Syvash
  • old Turkish fortress
  • Ostrich farm
